94 Points – Robert Parker
Dark cherry-red color. Ripe fruit, pleasant wooden notes. Complex nose, spiced and elegant. On the palate is rich, balanced, with elegant sweet round tannins. Enjoy with strong-flavored dishes such as Cochinillo al horno or Roast suckling pig and cheeses, such as Manchego.
The Wine Advocate – “Even more remarkable is the 2012 Solanera Vinas Viejas, a blend of 70% Mourvedre, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Grenache aged 10 months in a combination of French and American oak. A custom cuvee that is only available through importer Eric Solomon, this amazing red wine displays notes of lead pencil shavings, acacia flowers, black raspberries, blueberries and black currants. This full-bodied, intense 2012 tastes like it should cost three to five times as much. Full-bodied, stunningly pure and textured, it should last for 4-5 years, possibly longer.”
93 Points – Robert Parker
Wine Advocate – “I have loved the wines from Domaine Lafage in the past, and this 2013 is one of the greatest red wine values I have tasted in the last year or so. A custom cuvee put together by Eric Solomon and Jean-Marc Lafage, it is a blend of 70% Syrah and 30% Grenache. The result is an inky/blue/purple-colored wine offering a big bouquet of blueberries, blackberries, pepper and spice. This full-bodied, opulent, majestic red dry red unleashes tremendous ripeness, richness and intensity. One would think a bottle of this caliber would be over %50.”
92 Points – Wilfred Wong – Wine.com
Wilfred Wong of Wine.com – “A shining star in the quiet world of Chenin Blancs, 2013 Secateurs by Badenhorst Family Wines brings the varietal back into global focus. Beautifully balanced with bracing minerality and core fruits; some ripe honey dew comes into the picture as the wine finishes with a crisp bite. There is just a hint of sugar which makes the wine a prime candidate for Asian chicken salad with pickled scallions, toasted sesame seeds and a dab of chili oil. Don’t you think that is time to rekindle your love for Chenin Blanc?”
90 Points – Wine & Spirits Magazine – Best Buy
Wine & Spirits – “It has the generous, waxy texture of the variety, the chew of the fruit skin, along with hints of lanolin that make it a natural partner to chevre.”
90 Points – Wine Enthusiast
Wine Enthusiast – “This serious wine is still very young. Its black fruits and firm tannins are showing considerable potential, with acidity and a firm core still developing. This will be a powerful wine and one that needs to age.”

Wine Enthusiast – “Blue Fish Riesling consistently stuns in a blind-tasting lineup. It’s dry in style yet intensely sunny and ripe, brimming with yellow-cherry and cashew-nut richness. Supple and silky on the palate, it’s a spectacular value that’s likely to surprise.”
